Basketball Coach

As a coach, I am committed to being a player-first coach. I believe in living out the values of accountability, empowerment, integrity, love, respect, and transparency. My purpose extends beyond the court—I am dedicated to helping athletes become their best, not only in their basketball skills but also as students and future professionals in their communities.

Currently, I serve as the Girls Varsity Basketball Coach at Sedona Red Rock High School.

I started playing basketball in the 6th grade at 11 years old in Campbell, CA, with the sole purpose of impressing a crush. Thankfully, my appreciation for the game evolved beyond that initial motivation (my ego). I continued playing from 6th to 8th grade at three different middle schools. Many don’t know, but I didn’t begin playing AAU/Club Basketball until my sophomore year of high school, during which I played for two different programs.

I played high school basketball at Deer Valley and Tolleson Union. While at Deer Valley, I was a two-year letter-winner in basketball and also earned one letter in golf and track. At Tolleson Union, I was awarded Gatorade Arizona High School Player of the Year (2010), Arizona Republic Big Classes Player of the Year (4A-5A, 2010), First-Team Class 5A-Division II All-State (2009, 2010), Desert West Region Player of the Year (2009, 2010), and Wendy’s High School Heisman State Finalist (2010).

Division I Basketball Career and Record Achievements at UNL and SJSU

I played at the D1 level at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and San Jose State University. I spent 2.5 years at each school and finished at SJSU, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Business Marketing. At SJSU, I earned Mountain West All-Tournament Team (2015) and hold the SJSU program records for best three-point shooting percentage at .349 and best free-throw percentage at .886 in a season.

I believe there is more to life than basketball. I regularly remind my players that they are more than just athletes. As a coach, I integrate mindfulness, life skills, and mental toughness into all sessions. I am passionate about teaching skills that players can utilize on their own to become better versions of themselves.

My basketball journey has been diverse and fruitful, giving me a broad approach when creating unique and custom-made workouts for each player, with mental health and wellness at the forefront.

SKILLS TRAINING

The main focus areas I focus on are:

Muscle Memory Shooting

Master the fundamentals of your shot and have confidence to shoot in all situations.

Ball Control & Ball Handling

Improve your dribbling skills and handle the basketball like a point guard under pressure.

Footwork & Speed

Become more efficient in your footwork, cutting, and speed to move efficiently on the court.

Defense

A great defender will get playing time over an average shooter. Defense wins games! Enough said...

Driving & Finishing

Become a better driver and unleash the different ways to finish strong at the basket! #And1

Mental Toughness

Every session includes specific tactics and drills to improve the MIND. The game is ALL MENTAL.
